Give a sip. Use small quantities until your baby gets used to it

Hi jiarou, I’m Min Yi, CareLine Advisor/Nutritionist from Dumex. Thank you for your question. Our registered nurse has some advice for you with regards to your concerns It is best to only start giving your baby water when he's about 6 months old. Until then, he'll get all the hydration he needs from breast milk or formula. Once your baby is 6 months old, it's okay to give him sips of water when he's thirsty.
Giving a baby younger than 6 months old too much water could:
• interfere with his body's ability to absorb the nutrients in breast milk or formula.
• cause his tummy to feel full, which curbs his desire to feed.

While small sips of water probably won't hurt your baby, it's best to check with your doctor during the first six months.

What we do is to drink along with the baby.
i start teaching my baby to toast her bottle with my cup and shout "Cheers!" before she drink water, and guess what, it works! when she refuse to drink, i juz take my cup and encourage her to "Cheers!" wid me.. (^_^)

Hi Mavisha, I’m Min Yi, CareLine Advisor/Nutritionist from Dumex. Thank you for your question. Our registered nurse has some advice for you with regards to your concern.

Encourage your child to drink water but try not to force her if she refuses. You can squeeze some fresh fruit, like a lemon or orange into the water. It is not advisable to put sugar for taste in water as it may lead your child to acquire sweet tooth, and dental caries once he or she begins to have teeth.
