I agree with carol. Electrical pump much easier for us to use. I've been using madela swing, not noisy at all, easy to be carried eveywhere :)

I am a new mama just registered in, nice to meet all of u. I delivered my baby boy ab 28 days ago. go on breastfeeding, but milk flow seems not really enough, the max i get a day is ab 13-15oz, how about u all? I have been using madela breast pump (borrow fr sister) but feel it not very good and noisy, so now i DIY . It seems better, but may be inconvenient when i resume work, think of getting one breast pump (of course not electrical one, not practical in office). Should i buy Avent Mannual Pump , heard

Which breast pump is best? Why the obsession with which breastpump. As long as you are comfortable with the pump be it manual or electric and are able to pump the required amounts then I think the pump has served its function. I've been using the Avent ISIS Manual pump since the birth of my son 6 months ago. It serves its function and I've no need to buy a more expansive electric pump. The Avent allows me to express some 220-240 mls at 4 hourly intervals when I'm at work. I think that's good enough.

I used to use the Avent manual pump 3 yrs ago for my elder son. I swore by that product and was completely satisfied with it. It's lighweight and convenient to bring around. I only need a small pouch when I need to express in office. For my younger son (7 mths now), I started using Ameda electric dual pump. It's much less tiring and it takes half the time to express compared to manual one. I never go back to Avent manual pump anymore. But it's quite bulky and i hv to invest in rechargeable batteries.

Well, storing the milk in the same container is quite safe provided it is chilled immediately. Suppose baby cannot finish milk in that same bottle, it cannot be stored further, must be thrown away. Anyhow, you have to reduce contamination by not opening it too many times and exposing it to the outside air. It's best to store in separate bottles. Breast milk will store in the fridge for about 48 hrs, freezer for about a month. Are you manually hand-expressing your milk? It's v

jocelynding, thks for ur advice... i am trying to DIY express BM for my BB.. each time i can only express a small quantity at regular intervals of abt 3 hrs..besides bed time... is it right to store BM in the same container after each 'collection'? meaning i chill my first collection say at 9am, next collection, i take out the same container and then express BM second round and then chill it again?? cos my supply is still rather low, i am trying to express enough for 1 feed per day for the time be

Hi, Congratulations on being new parents! I think the instructions from Avent is just to encourage you to feed directly more than expressing. But it's ok to express if your baby is asleep and you feel engorged. Sometimes newborns can sleep for 4-5 hrs straight and by that time you'll feel quite full. At this stage, you'll probably get about 30-50ml if you pump. You can pump until no more milk comes out. This is to ensure that your breast it completely empty and your brain will signal to produce more. Hen

Re:i would like to enquire abt self expressing the breast milk... according to avent instructions, its only recommended to start pumping after 4 weeks... why so? i do have breast milk now cos each time my bb sucks on one breast, the other will start to 'leak'..(maybe its the let down effect) but i am not sure if my BB is having enough and i will compliment with formula milk... but after 2 days of bf + formula milk (average abt 3 bf for these 2 days), i notice my B

AVENT ISIS MANUAL PUMPI've been using the Avent Manual pump since my son was born 4+ months ago. I'm very happy with it. For one its light, easy to assemble and also u can control the suction. More importantly because its manual I'm able to express in places where electricity is not available like the Ladies at work. So far no complaints about the amount of milk I can express. On average I am able to express about 220 mls from both breast after 15 mins.

Hi I've checked around with many pp and most recommended the AVENT manual pump as I do not want to spend too much. It was quite intuitive to use but real tiring esp when you are trying to encourage a let-down and also when you have a lot of milk to express. AVENT came up with a semi-auto pump recently so you may want to check that out too.

Hi Sharon I've been using the Avent for almost a year and am very happy with it. With manual, you can increase or decrease the suction on the handle when you pump. It's also extremely comfortable compared to another brand I was using with my firstborn. I'm not sure where you're located, but with Avent, if you need spare parts (like if you lost/damage a part) you can get replacement parts from the HQ at Plaza Damas in Sri Hartamas, KL. I first heard about the Avent when I was expecting my 2nd one. The

Avent Manual Breast Pump VS Modela Manual Breast PumpHi Sharon, I've been using the Medala battery operated breast pump. I would recommend this battery operated type instead of manual. Do not need to pump manually and let the battery make the breast pump do the work, while u can do some reading or play with your BB. Rdgs...Fennie
